Frequently Asked Questions

What is an Infrared Sauna?

Infrared light is naturally occurring from the sun and is experienced as heat by the body. It is the invisible part of the sun’s spectrum and it has the ability to penetrate human tissue to produce a host of health benefits. Infrared Sauna therapy heats the body directly rather than simply warming the air. It raises the core body temperature and produces a deep, detoxifying perspiration at the cellular level. Once sweating begins, a volume 7 times that of regular saunas cam be achieved and at lower temperatures. In traditional steam saunas the temperature can range from 185° -195°, whereas in an Infrared Sauna the temperature is lower and more tolerable, anywhere from 110° -150°.

What is the difference between traditional saunas and infrared saunas?

Traditional wet and dry saunas use heated air to warm the body, which means they typically have to be very hot to reach therapeutic levels.  Infrared Saunas on the other hand, penetrate the tissues directly, causing the body to sweat at a more comfortable, tolerable, ambient temperature.

Are Full Spectrum Infrared Saunas safe?

We have Clearlight True Spectrum Full Spectrum Infrared Saunas which are the most effective and safest infrared heaters available and the only infrared sauna that cancels out both EMF and ELF.  Electromagnetic Fields (EMF) are energy waves with frequencies below 300 hertz or cycles per second.  Extremely low frequency (ELF) are the electric fields with frequencies from 3 to 30 hertz.  All Clearlight Saunas offer the lowest and safest EMF and ELF levels of any infrared sauna on the market. When you are seated in the sauna, the levels are virtually zero.

Can I share my membership sessions?

No.  Membership sessions are highly discounted and cannot be shared with friends or family.

What happens if I don’t use all my sessions in a month?

Your sessions will carry over to the next month.

How long is Membership Agreement?

Memberships are highly discounted. We require a minimum of 3 months duration for Membership rewards and a 30 days notice to cancel. If you would like to try a one month membership, while somewhat discounted, it does not have the same discount as the 3 month Membership Agreement.

Will I be losing water weight?

Yes, upon rehydration it will return. But the benefits of the gentle heat which increases your heart rate, and in turn, circulation, while also producing sweat to cool you down, all contribute to a caloric burn which will have weight loss benefits.

How often can I schedule a session?

Once daily is optimum but barring that, as often as your schedule allows.  Based on your health and wellness goals, 2 – 3 times a week is great.  For more aggressive result, 4-5 times a week is optimal.  If you are doing it for detox, the recommendation is to start out slow.  Your body can have adverse effects if you try and detox too fast.  It is much better to start off slow, and let your body guide you.

Is it true I am burning calories up to an hour AFTER my session?

Yes.  By increasing your heart rate and core temperature by 3 degrees, it can take up to an hour to return to your regular temperature.  We encourage you to stay active before or after your session to maximize your caloric burn.

Can the saunas be used for relaxation as well?

Yes.  Having a session in the evening and using a relaxing Chromotherapy color light during your session, can be the tools to promote a more restful, deep, restorative sleep.
